Mission
Cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke remain the leading cause of death worldwide. While the introduction of lipid-lowering, anti-hypertensive, and anti-thrombotic therapies have been unequivocally associated with improved outcomes, these approaches have been unable to displace cardiovascular disease from its title of the world's leading killer.
Chief among the risk factor-independent drivers of cardiovascular disease seems to be inflammation. Thus, we aim to understand the mechanisms by which immune cells contribute to disease for a precise targeting of processes and inflammatory pathways. Our overarching goal is to heal chronic inflammation by harnessing immunotherapy.
